Does your Center work with all students?

Yes! We work with all UIC undergraduate, graduate and professional students.

I am a faculty member/advisor. I would like to request a workshop by one of your instructors. How do I go about doing so?

Just give us a call at 312-413-0031 to request a workshop.

What kinds of workshops does ACE offer?

ACE Instructors lead workshops in a variety of areas such as time management, test preparation, writing and critical reading strategies.

Does it cost me anything to enroll in an ACE class?

There would be no additional tuition cost to you unless enrolling changed your student status from part-time to full-time.

Does it cost me anything to meet with an ACE Instructor?

No, our counseling and coaching services are free to UIC students and visiting scholars.

How many times can I meet with an ACE Instructor?

With the agreement of the Instructor, you can schedule as many meetings as you feel would benefit you.

Do I have to make an appointment to see an Instructor?

If available, our Instructors will meet students on a walk-in basis, but it is wise to make an appointment with a specific Instructor in advance.

What do I have to do to enroll in an Independent Study course (ASP 096) with an ACE Instructor?

To request an Independent Study, a student must meet with an Instructor to propose a specific course of study for a semester. If the Instructor accepts the proposal, arrangements will be made to enroll the student in ASP 096 for 1, 2, or 3 credit hours.

How can I sign up for the ACE listserv?

Just send a quick e-mail to uicace@uic.edu requesting to be added to the ACE listserv. Or, you can tell your ACE Instructor that you’d like to be added.
